Promoting Paul Simon's " Graceland " album and tour, and at the ICA Press Conference to argue Paul Simon's case with UK journalists ;
Paul Simon had broken a musicians' anti-apartheid ban by recording 'Graceland' in South Africa with mainly local musicians, most famously with Ladysmith Black Mambazo ; ;
He was attacked politically for breaking the ban and artistically for 'exploiting' them and 'stealing' their style ; ;
However for the South African musicians Paul Simon worked with, and many other South African musicians (but not all- the Artists United Against Apartheid remained anti- Simon) he was bringing them work, and introducing their music to the world ; ;
