November 27, 2000. Back in 1895 Alfred Nobel signed a will establishing the Nobel Prize. In line with the will, after his death the capital was turned into stocks and loans which are annually divided into six equal parts and granted as the Nobel Prizes in physics, chemistry, physiology, or medicine, literature, economics, and for peace-keeping efforts. The first Russian citizen to receive the Prize in 1904 was physiologist Ivan Pavlov /1849--1936/, famous for his theory of higher nervous activity, for founding the largest physiological theory of our times, new approaches and new techniques of physiological research.
