The new grid during the remodelling of the Royal Opera House stage, 1900-1901. The photograph shows the cables for the hanging system for the scenery and stage cloths. The counterweight frame and the drum and shaft mechanism for the lighting bars are visible. The new roof was raised 20 feet on columns on existing support girders ;
